Furnaces
Furnace repair and replacement, priced before we start.
Gas furnaces work hard here from October to April. We fix the common failures fast, and when it's time to replace, we size the new furnace to your house, not to the old one.
What we fix
- No heat, or not enough heat upstairs
- Short cycling: on for a minute, off again
- Ignitor and flame sensor failures
- Blower motors, capacitors and control boards
- Rattles, squeals, booms and burning smells
Replacements include
- A room-by-room load calculation to size the furnace
- Removal and recycling of the old unit
- Venting, gas line and condensate drain checked or redone
- Permit and inspection where required
- Start-up test with a carbon monoxide check
Repair or replace?
You get both prices in writing when both make sense. The decision stays yours.
- A cracked heat exchanger means replace. It's a safety issue, and we'll show you the crack.
- A common part on a younger furnace means repair.
- Three or more repairs in a few winters usually means replacement is the better money.
Furnace questions
Serving Idaho Falls, Ammon, Rexburg and Shelley.
Why does my furnace turn on and off every few minutes?
That's short cycling. Common causes are a clogged filter, a dirty flame sensor, a thermostat in a drafty spot, or a furnace that's too big for the house. Change the filter first; if it keeps happening, book a visit.
What size furnace does my house need?
It comes from a load calculation, not the size of the old furnace. Many older homes here have had insulation and windows upgraded since their furnace was installed, so the right size is often smaller.
Is a high-efficiency furnace worth it in Idaho Falls?
With long heating seasons, efficiency matters more here than in milder places. We show you the running-cost difference for your home before you choose.
